Udhayanidhi Stalin’s ‘Nenjukku Needhi’ Now Streaming on SonyLiv

Much anticipated Tamil language political drama thriller ‘Nenjuku Needhi’ starring Udhayanidhi Stalin in lead role is now streaming on SonyLiv. An official remake of the 2019 Hindi film Article 15 written and directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film released worldwide theatrically on May 20th, 2022.

Much like its original, Nenjuku Needhi also talks about the horror of casteism in India. An upright and upper-caste IPS officer S. Vijayaragavan, is tasked to investigate a mysterious missing case of three missing Dalit girls in the rural outskirts of Tamil Nadu. Eventually, two of them are found dead while one is still missing. As he continues his investigation, he witnesses the horror of caste based murders and casteist atrocities being Practiced in the village.

The film features Aari Arujunan as Kumaran, Tanya Ravichandran as Adhithi and Shivani Rajashekar as Kurinji. Nenjuku Needhi met with positive critical and audience reception. Now Article 15 is a trendsetter and the film may or may not be as good, but for once the idea of a remake is appreciable considering the premise of the film, i.e casteism whose horrors scream wide and large all over India. Nenjuku Needhi streams on SonyLiv, while Article 15 is on Netflix India.
